2003 MEN'S SOCCER
PRESEASON COACHES' POLL

PITT-GREENSBURG EXPECTED TO TOP
THE AMCC AGAIN IN 2003

The University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg is a strong favorite to repeat as men's soccer champions in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference, according to the AMCC pre-season coaches’ poll.

The Bobcats received five of seven first place votes.  Penn State Behrend, last season's runner-up in the AMCC title game, was narrowly selected to finish second over Penn State Altoona, which received an ECAC bid in 2002.  While there was no consensus Preseason Player of the Year, eyes will certainly be on Pitt-Greensburg's Adam Zeleznick (South Park HS/Pittsburgh, PA), last season's AMCC Player and Newcomer of the Year.  A  forward who was a second team regional All-America last season, Zeleznick led the conference in scoring with 19 goals and 7 assists for 45 points.  Their 19-1 record earned the Bobcats an independent bid to the NCAA Div. III tournament.  Another player who will get plenty of attention from the opposition will be Penn State Behrend's Andy Laver (McDowell HS/Erie, PA).   The senior midfielder collected 10 goals and 3 assists last season, and was a first-team all-conference selection.
