2010 MEN'S SOCCER
PRESEASON COACHES' POLL

BEHREND EXPECTED TO TAKE CHARGE
IN AMCC MEN'S SOCCER

Is there change in the air in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference men's soccer race?  The conference coaches think so, choosing 2009 ECAC South Region champion Penn State Behrend (4 AMCC titles overall) to displace two-time defending champion (and winner of four of the past five crowns) Medaille College.  Penn St. Altoona was expected to finish third.

Preseason Player of the Year honors were shared by Franciscan University forward Steve Duran (Chantilly, VA/Seton) and Medaille College forward Alexander Rouse (Marcellus, NY/Marcellus).  Duran has  been a first team all-conference team member for the past two seasons, and led the Barons with 10 goals and 26 points in 2009.  Rouse has also been a two-time first team all-conference selection.  He led the AMCC in goals (17) and was #2 in points (37) in 2009 after finishing first in both goals (22) and points (49) as a freshman.

The AMCC kicks off conference play on Saturday, September 25, and the championship will be Saturday, November 6, hosted by the number #1 seed.  The winner will receive the AMCC's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.
