2012 MEN'S SOCCER
PRESEASON COACHES' POLL

MEDAILLE PICKED TO GET PAST BEHREND
FOR MEN'S SOCCER TITLE

Medaille College
has edged out defending champion Penn State Behrend in the 2012 AMCC coaches' poll.  Each program earned four first place votes in the balloting, and both have collected five league titles over the past 15 seasons.  Penn St. Altoona was expected to finish third.

Not surprisingly, two Mavericks dominated the preseason awards voting.  Offensive Preseason Player of the Year honors went to Medaille senior forward George Tor (left).  A first team all-conference selection in 2011, Tor is also earned  NSCAA Regional All American honors.  He had 18 goals, 14 assists and 50 points last year, finishing in the AMCC top 3 in every offensive statistical category.  Teammate Nicholas Kurtz (right) was selected as the Defensive Preseason Player of the Year.   A three-time all-conference pick, Kurtz finished #1 in the conference in 2011 in GA (8), GAA (.50), save % (.814), and shutouts (6).  H also finished #1 in all of those categories in conference games only, allowing just 1 goal vs. AMCC opponents.

The AMCC kicks off conference play on Saturday, September 22, and the championship will be Saturday, November 3, hosted by the number #1 seed.  The winner will receive the AMCC's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.
