PRESEASON COACHES' POLL

 MOUNT ALOYSIUS PICKED TO WIN
FIRST AMCC TITLE

The 2010 regular season co-champions Mount Aloysius College and Pitt-Bradford have been picked to go 1-2 in the AMCC this year, according to a poll of the conference head coaches.  The pair finished with identical 16-4 records and look to bring a core of their top players in 2011.  The Mounties will be looking for their first overall AMCC title, while the Bradford squad already has four crowns on the shelf, most recently in 2007.

Pitt-Bradford senior catcher Lauryn Weaver (Port Matilda, PA/Bald Eagle HS) was selected as the Preseason Player of the Year. Weaver was a first team All-AMCC and ECAC South Region first team All-Star in 2010.  She ranked in the top five in the AMCC in batting average (.460), doubles (13), hits (58), on-base percentage (.493), slugging percentage (.722) and total bases (91).  Weaver is also the program's all-time home run leader. Pitt-Bradford sophomore right-hander Sarah Angeletti (Pittsburgh, PA/Bethel Park HS) is the Preseason Pitcher of the Year.  In 2010 she was the AMCC Newcomer of the Year and a first team all-conference selection.  With a record of 15-11, Angeletti started 25 games and threw 22 complete games.  She  ranked second in the conference in wins (15), strikeouts (165) and innings pitched (171).  A force at the plate, Angeletti also ranked #4 in the AMCC with a .430 batting average and #5 with 37 RBI.

The AMCC kicks off conference play on Saturday, March 26, and the championship will be May 6-8 at the site of the top seed.  The winner of the tournament will receive the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.
