2010-11 WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
PRESEASON COACHES' POLL

MEDAILLE EXPECTED TO DEFEND
AMCC WOMEN'S TITLE

Medaille College
earned 9 of 10 first place votes of the AMCC coaches and is the overwhelming preseason favorite to defend their conference title.  The Mavericks already have four trophies on the shelf.   La Roche College and Penn St. Behrend were tied in the balloting for second place.  Behrend has two league crowns to their credit while the Redhawks are looking for their first.

Preseason Player of the Year honors are shared by La Roche senior guard Chantelle Jennings (Pittsburgh, PA/Oakland Catholic), left, and Behrend senior guard Amy Oldach (Erie, PA/Villa MariaAcademy), right.  Jennings was a first team all-conference and second team all-ECAC selection last season.  The AMCC's leading scorer also ranked fifth in the nation with 23.5 ppg.  Oldach was the AMCC 2010 Defensive Player of the Year and a second team all-conference choice.  She was ranked eighth nationally with 4.0 spg and is in the AMCC all-time top ten with total career steals.  Successful 40% of the time from three point range, Oldach also dished 121 assists last season.

The AMCC kicks off conference play on Wednesday, December 1, and the championship will be Saturday, February 26, hosted by the number #1 seed.  The tournament winner will receive the AMCC's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.
