FROSTBURG STATE TOPS AMCC
WOMEN'S SOCCER COACHES' POLL

Once again, Frostburg State University is predicted to successfully defend their women's soccer title for the fifth consecutive year, according to the 2005 Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference pre-season coaches’ poll.  But last season's runner up, Penn State Behrend, is expected to challenge from the #2 spot.  The poll ranks all ten teams for the first time.

Preseason Player of the Year honors were awarded to Pitt-Greensburg forward Jen McIntosh (South Park HS/South Park, PA).  The senior is a three-time first team all-conference selection and the 2002 Newcomer of the Year.  She was the league's second leading scorer in 2004, collecting 19 goals (4 game-winners) and 11 assists for 45 points.

The AMCC kicks off conference play on Saturday, September 24.  The conference championship will be Saturday, November 5 at the highest remaining seed.  The winner will receive the AMCC's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.
